NATURALISTIC ITINERARIES
CYCLING AMONG SECULAR APULIAN OLIVE TREES
This package is dedicated to the cycling discovering of secular Apulian olive trees, of their twisted shape and mysterious history. The itinerary mainly develops along the tracks of the olive trees plain, bounded by Ostuni, Fasano, Monopoli and Carovigno, in which areas the concentration of millennial olive trees is very high, with plants which may have an estimated age up to 3000 years, dating back to the era of the amcient Messapians. The network of paths, tracks and ancient roads makes up an ideal set of routes for cycling lovers with the opportunity to stop and dedicate some time to photograph the majestic Apulian giant olive trees.

DAY 1
- DAY 1:
- 10 AM-6 PM: participants arrivals. Welcoming and check-in in masseria. Brief lesson about the history of the masseria and of the Apulian olive-growing tradition.
- 7 PM: initial briefing with the photographer
- 8 PM: dinner
DAY 2
- DAY 2:
- 9 AM: bike tour starting from Albergabici hostel. We will ride in the naturalistic landscape of the plain of monumental olive trees along the ancient Via Traiana (a Roman route), then named Via Francigena in the medevial period, and now redevoleped as an ideal route for the slow and sustainable discovery of the territory of the Apulian Adriatic coast. We will touch places full of charm and history in the Regional Natural Park of the Coastal Dunes such as the dolmen of Montalbano, the church of San Pietro in Ottava, olive groves with a thousand-year history with olive trees twisted shapes, bent by the wind, consumed by rain and sun, with hollow and incredibly majestic trunks. We will come across the underground oil mill of the historic Masseria Li Santuri and we will reach the sea through dunes covered by junipers, finally discovering the beach and small freshwater rivers (like Morelli river).
- 3 PM: extra virgin olive oil tasting at Masseria Narducci farmhouse, in Speziale (Fasano)
- 7 PM: works review in the host masseria
- 8 PM: dinner in masseria
DAY 3
- DAY 3:
- 7:30 AM: breakfast at Masseria Ferri
- 9 AM: exploration of the Santa Maria di Agnano Archaeological Park and of the surrounding nature with a panoramic view of the monumental plain from the hills of Ostuni. Photographic hunt in the old town of Ostuni to discover the white color in all its shapes. Bike excursion from the old town of Ostuni to Torre Santa Sabina, in the coastal area of Carovigno, along the Via Traiana which crosses secular olive groves of rare beauty
- 7 PM: works review in the host masseria
- 8 PM: dinner in masseria
DAY 4
- DAY 4:
- 7:30 AM: breakfast at Masseria Ferri and check-out
- 9 AM: final photography lesson and workshop conclusion
- 11 AM-8 PM: return to the airport by rent with driver. Free excursion to Polignano a Mare for those who will depart from Bari and in Lecce for those who will fly from Brindisi.
